The production method of this beautiful handcrafted soup bowl is called Tsugaru-nuri lacquering, which is a traditional industry in Aomori Prefecture, the northern part of Japan.

Tsugaru-nuri has a long lasting history since its foundation around in the end of the 17th century or in the beginning of the 18h century, and the traditional production processes and techniques have been preserved and conveyed over the centuries.
There are a lot of processes of lacquering over and over, and it usually takes at least 2 months to complete a Tsugaru-nuri product.

Handling Instructions
1) This product cannot be washed with bleach, in dishwashing machines, put in dish dryers or heated in microwave ovens.

2) Please be careful not to put this product in water for a long time in order to prevent it from stains, deformation, flaking or other kinds of damage.

3) After washing, please wipe the product with a soft dish cloth and dry it well.

Notification
1) Due to the handcrafted nature of these products, the color, shape, size and weight of each item can be slightly different, and there can be stains, spots, distorted patterns and/or lines which cannot be prevented as completely as machine-made products. Please note these cannot be the acceptable reasons for a return, refund, repair or replacement.
2) It is an interesting characteristic of lacquerware the color gradually changes while it is used for a long time. The colors of lacquered products seem to be turning to become brighter in months or about a year after you start using them.
3) Please note the brush mark at the bottom of the bowl is to verify the manufacturer SHIKAKE’s original and genuine products. That mark shaped like a drop of wafer is their company logo.)

4) Repair can be available for a charge upon request but depending on each situation if the lacquer coating peels off and/or the product cracks while you are using it. When you would like to have your soup bowl repaired, please let us know what is wrong with it, and we are pleased to check with the manufacturer if we can meet your request for repair.
