This interesting pottery is handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan by craftspeople who mastered the very special techniques of traditional pottery making carried on in that area.

The special glaze containing a lot of zinc oxide is used to create the flower-shaped crystals.
When the glaze is heated at over 1000 degrees in a kiln and then cooled down, zinc oxide lets the beautiful flowers bloom.

And the impressive color of blue is created by cobalt.
